Indian Actress make her international mark with a landmark achievement by winning prestigious best actress award ” The Silver Hugo” for stunning performance as the battered Punjabi wife grappling with domestic violence in Deepa Mehta’s Heaven On Earth at the 44th Chicago Film Festival on October 25.

Preity Zinta has been in news for this movie particularly when the movie was premiered at Toronto Film Festival last month. She has played a role of Punjabi wife who is struggling to keep her dreams despite brutal realities.

Unfortunately Preity was not able to receive the trophy the the director of the movie. But when she was asked for her words on this in India she says she is very happy with the kind of acknowledgement she get for the role she played in Heaven on Earth.

She also mention that , “I am so happy and excited. I’m going to have a blissfully debauched celebration this evening. It was my director Deepa Mehta who informed me on Saturday afternoon that I had won. Neither Deepa nor I could go to Chicago, I’m thrilled that I’ve done it without any lobbying.”

Further she admits that, “I’m walking on sunshine. Do you know everyone discouraged me from doing Heaven On Earth and Heroes? But I wanted a change.”

Preity Zinta’s upcoming movie “Heaven On Earth” is all set to be screened at 33rd Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) that started Thursday. Ms. Preity Zinta to attend this event Preity Zinta is all set to fly Canada. Preity Zinta at present at London where she is doing world tour with Aishwarya Rai’s The Unforgettable Tour.

“Heaven On Earth” is a movie which has a storyline of domestic violence.

In a movie Preity Zinta is playing lead role of a young Indian Punjabi woman who married an Indian Canadian man, played by Vansh Bhardwaj which turn horrible for her.

‘Preity Zinta , Deepa Mehta ( director ), David Hamilton ( Producer ) and Vansh will be present at the special screening on this saturday,’ said by Sanjay Bhutiani, executive producer and chief executive officer, BR Films.

‘Our film has a wide appeal and I think TIFF is the perfect place for its premiere as it has a lot of exposure. Besides, our film is also based on Toronto, so what could be a better place than TIFF to premiere it,’ Bhutiani told IANS.

He said the film will be released in India in November. It will also be showcased in Canada, US and Britain.
